Lacrima Asteria Dance Company: Wordless Speech on Skin, Bones & Heart (2022)

Words by yours truly

____________Is it myself, or just an echo...

Why do I feel trapped in my own shadow?
Or did he make me one of his own?
Be beautiful, waiting for him to return...
Is that her role? A purpose.
The idea of a throne.
Her bedroom. My window.
And clothes. Protecting her from lethargy.
Covering me with feelings and hopes.
Be all things.

What about his?

The time she spends grooming her hair...
...isn’t long enough. He’s still gone.
I’m thinking of him. You and me.
Entwining identities. I’m losing count of what belongs to her. To me. Crossing the real for eternity.
I guess she’s bound to bloom indoors.
Maybe she should flee? To ease. And sleep.
Stop choosing him. Her twin.

Accepting the sadness. Naturally.
Its beauty’s enchanting. She shouldn’t hide behind it.
Rather unveil it. Shamelessly.
I’ll find it pretty. Maybe.
This other me. That used to numb me.

Before becoming his, she should be hers.
And I will be mine.
