Press release for Ben Mak London Age is DEAD! Graduate Show (2018)

Behind thick curtain of luxurious, grand and quirky bedrooms hides a multi-dimensional life experience. Challenging the functional nature of today’s fashion for the older generation, British designer Ben Mak promises with his graduate collection to acknowledge the admiration that he cultivates for grey elegance. His mum as first and foremost muse, a 56 years old divinity in catsuit with bright green hair, he aims to unveil the fire that roars beneath every lady's skin.

Ben Mak London Age is DEAD! collection will be firstly showcased in Central East London (E1) on 24th June 2018, launching a new couture collection, inspired by high-end bedrooms and interiors, their trinkets and treasures, sliding in the resting places of bodies that age has embraced with a transcendental allure: maturity.

In collaboration with London ‘Grey Model Agency’, Mak is thrilled to count on a strong cast of senior models, which include ‘90s supermodel and androgynous muse of Jean Paul Gaultier Amanda Cazalet. Sharing Grey Model Agency owner Rebecca Valentines' desire, Ben Mak London celebrates the uniqueness of the generations that paved the way for the new millennium era. Constantly stepping out of conventions, the designer serves venerable women not to empower them – to which he believes they effortlessly do already – but to reinforce their representation to be equal to that of the younger market.

With a clear vision to create a new fashion identity to be inclusive of the 40 and more demographic that tends too often to be ignored and simplified in its dress choice, quality and fit, Ben Mak London new collection entwines luxury with a radical emphasis on silhouette. The designer thinks ladies that are leaders in magnetising their audience; a VIP intelligentsia that glistens in metallic fabrics and bold prints. Mak proudly restores the senior confidence, listening to the language that fabric speaks.

Completing his 3rd year of BA degree in Womenswear Design Technology at the University of the Arts London, he aims next to continue his studies on the MA Fashion at Central Saint Martins (UAL). With a recent internship at Gareth Pugh and a successful self-curated catwalk during London Fashion Week 2017 Ben knows exactly where to drive his label.

Ben Mak London: a couture that hypnotises, synthesis of sophisticated extravaganza. In other words, like him, to get out of one’s comfort zone with the right dose of theatrical drama in awe of emotional brilliance.

Guests are expected on 24th June 2018 from 3pm for welcoming elixirs and canapés before the show opening at 4pm. The celebration will continue with an after party rendezvous at The Alchemist. More information will follow via the show invitation.

Serving couture fire, yours sincerely.
